Publication of Criteria Document Version 1.6

The CER has today (28th July 2016) published a modification to the Criteria Document for the Regulation of Gas Installers in Ireland. This modification provides clarity to industry with regards to the scheme entry requirements and outlines the phased removal of the GIS and GID qualification as a method of scheme entry.

Successful Prosection of Illegal Gas Installer

The CER has today, 11th July 2016, published a Press Release regarding the prosecution of Mr. Tony Gallagher from County Meath for portraying himself as a Registered Gas Installer. Under the Electricity Regulation Act 1999, it is a criminal offence for any individual or company to portray themselves as a Registered Gas Installer when they are not registered with the official registration body.

Withdrawal of Tienku Wegla XC 10 Carbon Monoxide Alarm

The carbon monoxide alarm was withdrawn due to not complying with EN 50291-1.

Withdrawal of Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Two Carbon Monoxide Alarms were withdrawn from the market due to not complying with EN 50291-1. See details below.

RGII Board Welcomes New Managers

The Board of RGII, through its chairman, Liam Doyle, welcomes the appointment of incoming General Manager Pierce Martin and Safety Manager Sean Mc Ginley to the organisation.

New RGII Gas Safety Manager

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Seán McGinley as Gas Safety Manager from 4th January 2016. Seán succeeds Willie Wilson who is retiring after seven years sterling service to RGII.
